Wood Sage Teucrium scorodonia Wood sage is a member of the dead-nettle family & the only common member of its genus. Its greenish yellow flower consists of a five lobed lower lip, no upper lip & prominent stamens & purple anthers. The whole plant is downy, about 50cm high with wrinkled oval leaves that smell faintly of sage when crushed. Flowers from July to September Wood sage is a long lived native perennial of well drained, acidic to slightly basic soils. It is found in a wide range of habitats including heaths, woodland, hedgerows, scrub, & dunes. Despite its name wood sage is only moderately shade tolerant & is rarely found in deep woodland with closed canopies. It is also sensitive to grazing (eaten by sheep but not cows) & trampling & is therefore absent from most pasture land Sowing the seeds Tolerates most soils, Sowing time throughout the year, with best results sowing March/April & August to September. Prepare the soil by lightly scarifying to create a shallow broken surface. Sprinkle evenly the seeds then rake the seed lightly into the surface. Will grow in grass & wooded areas Always use a good quality seed compost. Please note we pack the majority of our seeds by volume so the number of seeds indicated is only an approximation. Seeds are packed into Glassine envelopes or zip-lock bags to keep them fresh. Thanks for looking. Wood Sage Teucrium Scorodonia, Approx, 200 Seeds Wild Flower
