Created by hand in Morocco, every Tamegroute Ceramic Planter is completely unique depending on the amount of glaze applied by the individual craftsperson, & where it has been placed in the oven. 1% of copper has been added to the glaze, giving the piece its distinctive green colouring. The unique features & imperfections of each bowl give it its unique character & tell the story of Tamegroute. This piece was created in the region of Tamegroute, South Morocco, just above the immense Sahara Desert. in the Berber language, Tamegroute means ’last place before the desert’ & was the last stop for the caravans who travelled across the desert on camels. Within the town there are seven ovens belonging to seven pottery families - with each relative passing the art form down to the next generation.
