Wonky Weaver Macau Yellow dye extract is derived from the botanical, Rheum emodi (Himalayan Rhubarb) & is used to produce yellowy, gold & light orange shades. Dye modifiers can result in many other unexpected colour shades. It is always recommended to first wash the fabric prior to dyeing, & when using cotton, an aluminium (Alum or Aluminium acetate) based mordant generally results in better dyeing effectiveness. Natural plant dyes are also perfect for naturally colouring hand-made soaps & candles. Infuse the dye powder in oil or wax, before adding to your soap or candle recipe. Wonky Weaver Natural Plant Dyes & Extracts are derived from botanical sources, & are both sustainable & ethically produced. We carefully source our dyes from suppliers we trust to uphold the highest of standards in quality. Using plant dyes is very enjoyable & satisfying but does require some degree of experimentation to get the desired coloration of your fibres, yarns & fabrics. Results also depend on the type, weight & make-up of the fibre, & water quality, temperature & length of time in the dye bath amongst many other factors. The type of mordants, dye assists & modifiers will also affect the resultant colour of your dyed materials, & therefore we do not guarantee the results of our natural dye products. These dyes are supplied in 50g resealable pouches. Please store your dyes out of reach of children, out of sunlight & under dry conditions.
