Bee Balm Monarda herbal tea has a long history of medicinal uses. As a tea, it was used to soothe, revive & warm. Bee balm tea makes a lovely after-dinner aperitif to support digestion. Monarda is in the mint family, Lamiaceae, & native to North America. Other common names include bergamot (not the same as bergamot orange), bee balm, horsemint, & oswego tea. Bee balm leaves have a minty-sage-oregano taste & can be substituted for oregano or thyme in cooking or tea, while the flowers have a light, citrus note, reminiscent of bergamot oranges (the base of Earl & Lady Grey Teas).
