Each bag of 50 balls will cover 2-3 metre square in a garden bed or 10-12 medium sized pots (leave at least 10cm between each ball). Best scattered in Spring or Autumn (we suggest leaving them in the fridge for a couple of weeks before scattering them!). Each pack includes full instructions on the back.We make the balls ourselves from a mixture of UK wildflower seeds, clay, peat-free compost and chilli powder. The outer clay protects the seeds from ants, birds and mice, and once sufficient water has permeated the clay, the seeds inside begin to germinate - helped along by the nutrients and minerals contained within the ball. The chilli powder continues to deter slugs and snails while the seed ball slowly degrades and the seeds sprout. Wildflowers are naturally slow to grow and the balls can take 2-4 weeks to begin to sprout. Some will flower in the first year and others may not flower until the second year, but the display should keep getting better each year :) The more they are initially watered the quicker they will be to start to grow, although they will be ok to leave them to the rain to water them as well :)Packaging is made out of paper and is compostable and 100% plastic free.
