The cylindric plant pot no. 12 from Marei was produced over decades in this modest form & therefore can easily be called a True Classic. It stands on a narrower base & rises conically from bottom to top. Outside a stylised, red-blooming shrub has been carved in bearing two-tone, red & yellow fruit - the center of the blossoms is held in yellow as well The flowers are reminiscent of Red Hurtsickles or Japonica, the fruit of Mirabelle, Cherry, Plum or Quince. The highlighted flowers & fruits are decently framed with rich green drop-shaped leaves. The incision technique is distinct - red clay which the flower pot is made out of is showing through. An unknown artist left his mark: MJ. Fuss & Emons, a ceramics producer, faced drastic canges in 1948. Josef Emons und Jean Fuss went separate ways. Their production site on what nowadays is called Keramikerstrae (street of ceramics) had been - in a matter of prudence - planned in a way a split into two separate companies would not be different. Apart from Ruscha, the companies J. Emons Shne, Keramik- und Terrakottafabrik (ES-Keramik) & the Terrakottawerksttten Jean Fuss & Sohn K.G. Shortly thereafter the latter changed its name into Marei (MAjolikafabrik RhEInbach Jean Fuss & Sohn). in 1971 Marei already looked back at 50 years of success. Right about that time Marei primarily & especially produced planters & flower pots - in the year 1970 6000 plant pots a day; vases & other ceramic products included the production reached u to 250.000 pieces in 1975. After nearly one hundred years Marei had to close its production permanently in 2016. Bodo Mans was the most important designer employed at Marei in 1956.
