This is an extremely nice vintage Yardley powder & rouge compact, circa 1950’s. It is in very good condition & comes complete with its original & unused rouge & powder The compact is made from gold tone metal, with an enamelled lid & clasp. The lid is shiny, with a scrolling pattern enamelled in cream & red. The underside features engine turned horizontal lines & a raised central cartouche containing the Yardley logo Inside, there is a framed glass mirror in the top section. The bottom section houses a rouge well & a lidded well for powder. The rouge well contains an unused an unopened packet of Yardley ‘Holly Red’ rouge & an applicator puff. The powder well is empty but the compact comes with an unopened packet of Yardley ‘English Complexion Powder perfumed with Bond Street’ in the shade ‘Medium Rachel’ A Yardley powder puff is also included. Signed ‘Yardley New York’ The compact measures 8.5 cm wide, 5 cm high, & 1 cm deep The overall condition is extremely good. There are some light scratches to the top of the compact but no loss of enamelling. The inside of the compact is very clean & it appears to have been unused. There is some minor hazing to the mirror but it still gives a crisp reflection.
