1950s Vogue Vanities powder compact, with pouch. Small, slimline rectangular shape. Made of metal. The exterior is silver colour metal (non-reflective finish on the top, & shiny/reflective metal on the bottom), with gold colour stripe pattern (finely textured) to top left edge & bottom edge, intersecting at the bottom left corner. E.P.B. stamped above the hinge. Inside is gold colour metal, with a mirror in the top. Metal flap, with hinge & catch, over the powder well, with ‘Vogue Vanities Trade Mark Made in England’ stamped in the middle. The powder well has a matte finish coating, cream colour, & a material buffer strip around the edge of the well. No powder/puff/sifter. Cream colour fabric pouch with small diamond pattern & Vogue name to front (see condition notes). External dimensions of compact top 6.8cm x 5.6cm, 2 7/10 x 2 2/10 inches. External depth 7mm, 1/4 inch. Condition: Hinges & catches in working order. Exterior: Very good with a few tiny marks, & a small fine scuff line on one of the stripes. Slight wear to the narrow sides. The bottom has very fine scuff lines which become visible when angled in the light. Interior: Mirror is intact & good but has slight haziness & small pale marks under the surface. Metal around mirror is very good. Metal flap very good. Metal edging has slight wear. Powder well very good. Buffer strip looks aged. The pouch is yellowed with age in most parts, & the Vogue name is mostly rubbed away.
