Made by the Wild goose studio it depicts the Celtic Cross of Durrow. Hand made in Kinsale Co Cork Ireland. The symbol of four is found here in the Celtic spiral pattern. It is all explained on the label on the back of the cross. It is charcoal grey in colour & has a predrilled hole for hanging. Measures approximately 6.5 long x 2.75 wide x 1/2 deep (17 x 7 x 1.5 cms) weight: 85 gram / 2.2 oz in excellent condition. This beautiful item is a must for any Irish collection. Carved by Kathleen Smyth after the stone original. Fellow artists Brian Scott-McCarthy & Kathleen Smyth founded the Wild Goose Studio in 1970. Together with other leading Irish artists, they created a unique range of artefacts that take their inspiration from our rich cultural heritage & the contemporary world. It all starts with the marriage of an idea or meaning with an image. One of their artists will then carve that image into a sculpted piece which becomes the original from which they create a mould so they can faithfully reproduce the image in full detail. The production process itself starts with metal powders such as bronze or cast iron which form the outer surface of the finished piece & the inner is created from a cold cast pouring. Once the piece is set, they polish it to reveal the beauty hidden beneath.
