(Any queries from the EU, please don’t hesitate to get in touch) Here is a vintage 1970s square powder compact in gold-tone metal, with an attractive dark blue enamel lid with a pretty floral design of white, pink & pale blue flowers. This looks very like a transfer design which became the accepted way to embellish these compacts around the late 60s / early 70s. This is a very 1970s style design printed onto the dark blue enamel finish. This measures 7.6cms square (3) & is still in good working condition, opening well & closing with a satisfying snap !! No sifter or puff, I’m afraid, but these things are surprisingly easy to obtain from a similar period in the online second-hand & vintage market. No brand name either, so this could have been made for someone like Boots the Chemist perhaps ? CONDITION:- Overall the condition is fairly good with a bit of surface wear on the reverse. There are lots of scratches inside the powder well where the powder refills have been taken out a bit clumsily & replaced many times. Since the accepted way to do this was to insert the tip of a nail-file down the side & lever it out, you can see why there are so many scratches - in my view, this means this was well used & probably well loved too.
