Here is a truly splendid little early 1950s metal powder compact complete with its original sifter & powder puff. The lid has a felt design of a village scene, all autumnal colours - russets, browns & greeny-blues, all in felt fabric, & all on a cream enamel frame. The reverse is also cream enamel, which is in excellent condition. in fact, this whole compact is in pretty marvellous condition possibly due to the fact that it has its original beige felt cover. This is a fairly small sized compact, measuring just over 6.8cms square (that’s just under 2 3/4) & also very flat - only 1cm thick (3/8) No branding at all, just the word ‘Foreign’ stamped inside the lid. I love this as it’s so utterly pretty, & so very 1950s - although this is unbranded, it’s an unusual design in lovely warm colours. If you collect vintage powder compacts because of the beautiful designs, this is one of a number of retro 50s compacts in my shop at present. CONDITION:- This compact has no real issues really - it still stays shut & opens easily with that satisfying click, the metal-framed sifter is in very good condition, & it’s all fairly clean. I think probably this dates from the early 1950s, after WWII ended, as the use of metal indicates that metals were becoming available again. During the war, the early plastics such as Lucite & Bakelite were the materials of choice, as metals were all needed for munitions etc. This has been used of course, but has been cleaned out, & there are a few marks on the mirror, bot uther than that Vintage 1950S Square Powder Compact With Felt Village Scene, With Original Sifter & Puff
