This lovely antique sterling silver chatelaine compact case is from the Edwardian era. It has the full British hallmark dating it to 1919. The case would have contained powder & a powder puff. It still has the mirror in the lid in tact. It has lovely floral decoration both on the front & the back, & has a blank cartouche for you to have a monogramme engraved on it. The inside has a gold overlay. The lid shuts very well & the case has a good sized loop on the top to attach to a chatelaine. However, you could wear it as a pendant on a chain as a necklace. The chain would need to be sturdy to balance the size of the compact. You can use it for other purposes, not just as a compact. It can be used for keepsakes such as a photo or a lock of hair if you cover it with some transparant plastic. I do have a lovely heavy chain listed that would go well with this locket.
