Fresh seeds of open pollinated venus flytraps (Dionaea muscipula). A mix of typical & cultivar forms including B52, UK Sawtooth, Alien, Wacky Traps, G7, Great White Shark & more. Germination: Sprinkle the seeds on a low nutrient substrate such as peat or sphagnum moss. Be careful of using live sphagnum moss as it can quickly outgrow the seedlings. Ensure the substrate is kept wet with low mineral water (rain, RO, distilled) at all times & place in a bright area or outside, ensuring they are protected from the weather. Avoid tap water where possible. If ambient humidity is very low, enclosing the pot with a clear lid will aid germination. If this method is used remember to air the plant regularly to avoid damping off. Seeds can germinate in as little a a week, allow up to 6 weeks. Ongoing care: -Venus flytraps like very high light & as much full sun as possible in the UK. More intense light will encourage colouration, flowering & larger traps. It is possible to grow the plants indoors but it’s not advised without catering for very high light & a dormancy period. -Will grow in just about any low mineral substrate, peat & perlite or sphagnum are the usual choice. -Ensure the plants are sitting in 1-2 inches of low mineral water year round.
