55 days. Orange Swiss Chard is a great ornamental vegetable. Don’t just plant it in the garden, add some in the landscaping. These bright orange stalks will spice up any area, & they grow abundantly throughout the whole summer season. This variety produces dark green leaves on bright orange stems. Plants do well in zones 6 & up. When planting for harvest, allow 55 days before harvesting the stems, & do so by taking them off the plant individually for a harvest all summer long. The taste of these leaves is very similar to spinach. Orange Swiss Chard seeds require a moist & rich soil. The soil should have a pH between 6 & 6.4; adding compost to the soil can help equalize the pH & provide the plants with the proper nutrients. Sow the seeds a week or two before the final frost of the season. Swiss Chard is relatively hardy & can handle germinating in cooler temperatures. Cover each seed with about of an inch of soil. Keep the rows spaced around 24 apart & the plants between 18 & 24 apart. Keep the roots watered regularly, & be sure that the plants are set up to grow in an area that has full sun. After around 55 days, the Swiss Chard will be ready for harvest. When removing leaves, be sure to keep the plant in tact as well as you can, so that they can continue to grow. Orange Swiss Chard is an excellent variety for both aesthetic & eating purposes. These swiss chard leaves are delicious & loaded with nutrients, making them an excellent addition to many dishes.
