A Stunning Vintage Colourful Flowers & Fruits Pattern with a decorative gold & blue border English Powder Compact / Make-up Mirror. The scalloped powder compact is gold metal with the colourful fruits - pear, peach & plum against a creamy white enamel base. The fruits design pops out from the cream base. c 1950s. Closes with a satisfying snap. The 1950s compact has a round metal plate which folds out when released by a metal catch to reveal the powder well, which still has some powder left, & the powder sifter. The fold out gold tone metal plate says Stratton, Made in England & has the Stratton Compact-in-Hand logo. The compact is imprinted on the top of the mirror bezel with Stratton, Made in England. The back is a machine engineered pattern of concentric circles. The Compact in Hand mark indicates the compact has a self-opening inner lid. This was patented in 1948 & is unique to Stratton compacts. The Stratton compact is in excellent vintage condition. The mirror glass is in excellent condition & gives a wonderful crystal clear reflection. The compact overall shows signs of wear due to its age on the back. The colourful floral enamel image is in excellent condition. The clasp, hinges & springs are working perfectly. Please view photos. The mirror compact diameter measures 7.5 cm (3 in) & is 1 cm (3/8 in) deep. Weighs 100 g (3.4 oz). A wonderful vintage handbag accessory. There is still some powder in the power well.
