A Stunning Vintage Stratton Black Enamel & Gold Tone Flower design English Powder Compact / Make-up Mirror. The scalloped rim has an etched decorative design. c 1950s. Closes with a satisfying snap. The back is a machine engineered pattern with parallel lines. The 1950s compact has a round metal plate which has the Stratton Compact-in-Hand logo & says Stratton. This folds out when released by a metal catch to reveal the powder well, which still has some powder remains. The compact is imprinted on the mirror rim with Made in England. The Compact-in-Hand mark indicates the compact has a self-opening inner lid. This was patented in 1948 & is unique to Stratton compacts. The Stratton compact is in good vintage condition. The mirror glass is in excellent condition & gives a wonderful crystal clear reflection. The compact overall shows a few signs of wear due to its age on the back. The clasp, hinges & springs are working perfectly. Please view photos. The mirror compact diameter measures 7.5 cm (2 7/8 in) & is 1 cm (1/2 in) deep. Weighs 95 g (3.2 oz).
