Sempervivum species mixed seeds Sempervivum or houseleeks are an easy & hardy succulent plant. Usually grown in a wide variety of containers or alpine sinks in the garden. They are not happy as a houseplant. Sempervivums need a very well drained potting compost with plenty of grit or other amendments to ensure good drainage. Seed sowing is straight forward. Use a wide container such as a seed tray or plastic take away container. Always ensure you have drainage holes in your chosen seed tray. Use well draining seed sowing soil or potting compost that has been amended with perlite, grit, or vermiculite. Fill the tray & soak the soil from below. Allow to drain. Sow seeds lightly & evenly onto the surface. Do not press into soil. Do not cover the seeds with soil. The seeds need light to germinate. Spray the surface of the soil & seeds lightly with water. Either place seed tray into a propagator or enclose in a sealed clear bag to ensure good humidity. Ideally a temperature of around 20 degrees centigrade will be required for germination. Seeds may take a few weeks to germinate. If no germination after a few weeks then place into the fridge for 4 weeks & then replace into a heated area.
