Rbezahl (Polish: Liczyrzepa, Duch Gr, Karkonosz, Rzepir, or Rzepolicz; Czech: Krkono or Krakono) is a folklore mountain spirit (woodwose) of the Krkonoe Mountains (Giant Mountains, Riesengebirge, Karkonosze), a mountain range along the border between the historical lands of Bohemia & Silesia. He is the subject of many legends & fairy tales in German, Polish, & Czech folklore. He can be seen in this 1915 illustration sneaking up on these young ladies, with good intentions no doubt, because to good people he taught medicine & gave presents.
