Rex Fifth Avenue Art Nouveau Powder Compact, White Enamel with Embossed Brass Leaves, Vintage 1950s Presented by EclecticVintager This vintage Rex Fifth Avenue is in an Art Nouveau style. The compact is a rectangle shape with in white enamel with embossed ( raised ) brass leaves. The compact mirror is clear & has the original powder puff & powder screen. This Rex fifth avenue powder compact & mirror has the signed Rex Fifth Avenue ribbon across the powder puff ad it has a push button closure which is in great working order & secure. Dorset manufactured ladies compacts from the 1930’s, they merged with Rex Fifth Avenue in 1951 Rex was the most popular of the Fifth Avenue compact lines, which also included Dorset, Columbia, Dale, & Zell. During WWII, Rex maintained popularity & worked around the metal shortages by producing lucite cases. Rex (and most of the other Fifth Avenue lines) did not always print hallmarks on compacts themselves-instead, Rex signed the ribbon across the puff.
