Rare Vintage 1950s KIGU Powder Compact Mirror Hand Embroidered Petit Point Flowers Brass Collectable Retro Mother’s Day Gift We love a vintage Compact & this one is particularly beautiful. We can’t believe that it’s in such great condition for it’s age. The top of this Compact has a creamy fabric base with a beautiful hand-embroidered picture on the top of a central pink rose with a band of embroidered flowers around it in blues, pinks, yellows & greens. This is topped with a perspex clear cover & surrounded by a band of brass leaves. There is a push button on the front & the Compact opens up to reveal a mirror on the top. This is marked Made in England. The Mirror is in good unmarked condition. There is a lid under this with a further opening on the right hand side which slides up & down. This has a repeating circular design with the KIGU logo in the centre. Opening the catch reveals the space to add your powder & there is some of the original powder remaining along with the netting. The netting has come away around the sides in places. On the underside of the lid is the original price sticker which we could easily be removed but we have left on. The base has a horizontal line design with a repeating leaf band around the edge mirroring the front. The Compact measures 3.5 (9cm) in diameter. It is in very good condition for its age.
