Thoroughly spray the tree trunk with horticultural oil in early March to suffocate pupating larvae. 2. Rake & destroy leaf debris. 3. Replace mulch under the tree each fall. 4. Spray the tree with Bacillus thuringiensis kurstaki (Dipel, Thuricide, Javelin).
