This auction is for 20, 30 or 50 seeds or a mix of each packaged separately, home grown organically in the UK of these fully hardy clump forming perennials, both have received the RHS Award of Garden Merit (AGM). Phlomis fruticosa is found across Southeastern Europe/Mediterranean, originally collected in Northwestern Crete, Greece. Phlomis russeliana is from Turkey & Syria. Great for pollinators Drought tolerant. It is a great plant for adding to Mediterranean or prairie type plantings, cottage gardens, borders, rockeries etc. They do well in drier well drained sites in full sun, but are quite tolerant of other soil types & moisture. Drought Tolerant. Phlomis russeliana is best at the front or middle of the border whereas Phlomis fruticosa is more shrubby & better at the middle to back of the border. Phlomis fruticosa grows to 100cm (3ft) by 150cm (5ft) across & is more shrubby in appreance than Phlomis russeliana. The sage-like, aromatic leaves are oval, 5 to 10cm (2 to 4 inches) long, wrinkled, grey-green with white undersides, & covered with fine hairs. Deep yellow, tubular flowers, 3cm in length, grow in whorls of 20 in short spikes in summer. Phlomis russeliana grows to around 100cm (3ft) high & 50cm (19 inches) across, with large ovate hairy grey-green leaves.
