These unique coasters are hand made using rare fabric naturally dyed by yam roots. They age gracefully & can last for a lifetime - over time after being used for many times, the stains & marks will add to the rustic antique look of these coasters. About Yam Root Dye: The inside of the yam is a rich burnt ochre colour. It is mashed into a pulp & soaked in water to create the dye pigment. Because of their relatively high tannin content (6-13 the yam roots are traditionally used to dye cotton clothes. Fabric naturally dyed using yam root have a warm & earthy spectrum of colours with a natural depth. The hand dye process also creates an uneven, rough & stiff texture for the fabric, giving it a rustic, antique look & feel. Due to the many steps involved in the lengthy manual dyeing process, the fabric is in very limited supply at a high price. Please kindly notice that these handmade products will not have identical looks - each piece is unique & the colour might vary slightly between different batches of fabrics.
