Another design taking inspiration from two polar opposite areas of interest. While studying & spending time with both engineered metal parts & with naturally formed seashells & fossils, it occurred to me that the grooves & notches on these objects have similarities, whether natural or manmade. The forms are often integral to the objects but are present for completely different reasons, yet there is beauty in the repeating notched or grooved form. This is the first in a series of rings taking inspiration from how naturally evolved structures are imitated in manufactured artifacts. Similar rings in different styles & sizes can be found in my shop here: www.etsy.com/uk/shop/pedalsilver. This is another one-off solid silver ring, carved initially in wax before being cast. Weighing in at approximately 8g, & being a size P only, it is an unusual statement ring, though comfortable enough to be worn everyday. This piece is hallmarked by Sheffield Assay Office.
