This bundle dye kit is made for all those of you who have always been wanting to try out natural dyeing! Bundle dyeing is an easy entry way to learn about plant dyes & suitable for beginners & everyone new to dyeing with plants. Silk is an amazing fibre that takes on the color of the plants beautifully. The mulberry silk scarf included in the kit is made from peace silk, which is a vegan & cruelty free alternative to standard silk. It has a lovely heavy weight & delicate texture to it & drapes beautifully as a hair scarf, headband or neckerchief. Alternatively you can opt for a soft cotton bandana or scrunchie (XL or standard), both upcycled from unique vintage bedsheets. The scrunchies come with a very strong elastic, that will keep your hair up all day. The cotton bandana can be worn in the hair, as a belt or as a neckerchief whatever you feel like! The plant dyes included in the kit are sourced partly from my own garden. Are you ready to DIY - Dye it yourself?? Included in the kit - pre mordanted silk scarf: 100% mulberry silk Habotai, organic peace silk, 50x50cm (20x20) or -pre mordanted cotton bandana, 52x52cm (21x21) or - pre mordanted scrunchie, standard (12cm) or XL size (26cm) - plant dyes: Marigolds, Black Hollyhock, Safflower, Hibiscus, Chamomile & Calendula - cotton string - printed instruction - small plant dyed drawstring bag (only included with the silk scarf) More information on peace silk: Peace silk means the silkworm can complete its metamorphosis & fly as a beautiful butterfly out of the cocoon. No silkworm dies during the usual drying of the cocoons by hot steam or boiling water. For this reason organic peace silk is a bit more expensive than standard silk, this is reflected in the price of the dye kit. A NOTE ON NATURAL DYES: Natural dyes have a charm & personality very unlike chemical dyes with a much higher & deeper color vibrance, they are often described as living colour. This does mean that some colours may vary or fade slightly over time. Therefore it is important to treat them with love & care, keeping them out of sunlight when not wearing & washing them with cool water & ph neutral soap (such as wool & silk soap).
