Decorative washi tapes originated from mt (meaning Masking Tape) brand, produced by Kamoi Kakoshi. Established in 1923, this company is based in Kurashiki, Okayama prefecture in Japan. All the washi tapes produced by them are still made there. Originally a factory that just created industrial masking tapes, they created 20 colorful tapes for 3 ladies who were fascinated with masking tapes. mt now has the widest variety of basic washi tapes such as solid primary colors, pastels, & simple decorative motifs & patterns like stripes, grid lines & dots. mt fab, a series of washi tape which has not been seen before as it is made by taking advantage of printing technologies.
