The opening of the top is outlined in gold. The piece has an overall texture. It is a heavy piece & would hold a tall plant or can be used as a wastebasket. There is some surface rust on the bottom near the foot & inside. There are some tiny white specks in places. The feet feel sturdy & are in no danger of loosening. The bottom is marked Made in India.
