Why if this is glass is it not clear? Impurities, good impurities which give it a deep dark black colour though brown it is so dark it appears black. The piece depicts Buddha in Maitreya form, happy, sated & serene. Super glossy, the carver has taken full advantage of the lustrous nature of glass & has polished it to a glorious shine while leaving the underside as is, that allows the owner to know just how it looks before polishing & what this is like.
