Water it sparingly during the growing season & only when soil has dried completely. Feed with a quarter-strength, balanced fertilizer (such as 7-7-7). It needs full sun exposure for the best flowering & spine development. It is best to keep it above freezing but is said to be cold hardy to 30oF for a few hours if soil is kept dry.
