This is one of our most popular color combinations that we have. If you are looking to add some color in your kitchen or on your table, this will do it. The wood starts out as 49 layers of 1/16 Birch veneer that have been dyed & glued together. in the case of this mill, there are five colors which are brown, white (natural), green, pink & blue repeating over & over. The wood used to make our mills has been sustainably harvested & the dyes & glues used are water based. All of which makes it better for the environment. I start the creation process by putting the wood onto my lathe & drill the head & body. Once the drilling is complete I then shape the head & body using hand tools & turning everything by eye on my lathe. The mill is approximately 2 5/8 in diameter at the base & tapers to about 1 3/8 in the mid section & stands 8 1/2 tall. The shape is modeled after a lady dancing. Starting from the head, shoulders & waist area, all the way down to the beads or rings that I’ve turned near the bottom to be like the folds of her dress. The mechanism used is Ceramic & made here in the US. The finish on the mill is a food grade polymerized tung oil & a wax mixture which gives a nice luster to the mill. So it’s safe to use on your food & cleans up easily. Care instructions are included. Although you can look at the top of the adjustment knob for an S or P to see whether it is salt or pepper I use the beads/rings near the bottom of the mill to help you tell the difference as well. If the mill has three beads/rings it is a pepper mill & if the mill has one bead/ring it is a salt mill. You are placing an order for this salt mill. You will not receive this exact one.
