An absolutely tremendous 19th century teapot which is a must for any teapot collection or for collectors of antique Victorian curiosities. This enormous beauty has 2 spouts & also 2 handles to hold it steady, since it’s extremely large & yes, it’s heavy. Imagine then the weight when it’s filled with hot tea. Who needs the gym? A daily workout with this should be enough. The Victorians were renowned for having large families. Queen Victoria herself had 9 children so industrial size tableware was quite common. The Victorians were also very inventive & sought ways to avoid horrid tea leaves ending up in dainty china cups. Someone decided a double-spout teapot was the answer (no, it isn’t) & quickly patented the design. The theory being that one spout would deliver the filtered tea whilst the other diverted the unwanted liquid elsewhere. Needless to say it didn’t catch on & now such items are fiendishly difficult to find. There is historic damage to the lid. It has been repaired but trust me, whoever comes across this teapot will not be looking at the lid! Otherwise in very good condition with no faults. A truly stand-out piece which displays wonderfully well. Measures 10 tall & 12 wide (25 & 30 centimetres) Capacity 4.5 litres = 9 pints = 16 cups The sheer weight of the teapot means it will be shipped to your overseas home by Royal Mail Tracked & Signed Global Priority Service or Royal Mail Signed & Tracked Parcelforce Service within the UK.
