This card is part of a series I’ve been working on in which I experiment with natural dyes on paper. in this case, the dye is Hibiscus flowers when used for making Jamaica tea. This is the May 2012 card. This letterpress postcard was printed on Rising Stonehenge cardstock. First, I hand dyed the card, so each card will be slightly different. Then I used lead type to print the card, with an original linoleum cut for the image. The text refers to my dyeing process or information about the origin of the dye, presented in a fanciful manner. It was printed on a Chandler & Price clamshell press. This card is part of a signed & numbered edition of 41 cards. Card measures 4 x 6 & comes to you in a protective plastic bag. I have done the best I can to edit the photograph for true color, but please note the dyes change over time. Also, natural dyes can fade or darken when exposed to sunlight.
