Description Turban squash can range in color from mottled green, orange to yellow in color, often displaying all of these colors on a single squash. At its blossom end is a Turban-like cap, thus its name. This ornamental variety can measure ten to fifteen inches in diameter & is heavy for its size. Wrapped in a thin but hard shell, the fine-textured orange flesh can vary from mild to sweet. Sowing instruction Sow in late spring to early summer - April to June. Indoors: Sow indoors 4-6 weeks before the last frost. Use a rich compost & sow one seed per 7cm (3) pot. The seeds have a rounded & pointed end - push the pointed end downwards into the soil. (With flat seeds, such as these, never lie flat on the soil as they can collect moisture & rot quickly). Plant at a depth equa l to twice the size of the seed - 1-2cm ( - 1) Place in a warm place with natural light. The ideal germination temperatures are 20-28oC (70-85oF). The seeds germinate quickly in 7 - 10 days. Transplant outdoors once the soil have warmed & the plants have their first pair of true leaves. Outdoors: Once soil is warm in early summer, seeds can be sown directly outdoors. You need about three months of frost free weather.
