Gentian Root / Gentiana L. / Herba Organica Gentiana is a genus of plants with many species which occur in alpine habitats in Asia, Europe & the Americas. The name Gentian is derived from the name of a king Gentius who has first identified the plant. Gentian Root is mainly used to make alcoholic beverages, like apritifs, liqueurs, & tonics. To make an infusion, use 2 grams of Gentian Root & add 1 cup (200 ml) of boiling water, steep for about 10-15 minutes, then strain the infusion.
