Fish Small Red Flower Pendant With Black Centre, 22Ct Gold-Plated Cloisonné Enamel Flowernecklace On Fine Gold Plated Chain, Vintage 1980S

Here is an extremely pretty little red Hibiscus flower pendant, with a pink centre, by the famous Fish Company, (also known as Fish & Crown Enamels, amongst other names This measures 2cms x 2cms (3/4 x 3/4) & hangs on a beautiful gold-plated cable chain with an extender section at the end. The chain measures 45 - 50cms (17 3/4 -19 3/4). There is a Fish signature on this with a copyright symbol, & the cross-hatch texture that they used on pretty much everything they made. This was made by the Fish Enamels company, who are known by several names - see my brand info below. This is a really pretty little pendant from this company, one of several I am listing this week, & a proper collector’s item from the 1980s, when enamelled jewellery was at the height of its popularity !! Here’s some info about this little known company:- FISH & CROWN This was made by the famous Fish & Crown company in the 80s, an amalgamation of two companies - Fish Enterprises UK & Crown Enamels USA, who both specialised in champlev cloisonn enamel pieces like this all through the 80s & 90s, & together producing many designs under several brand names - Fish, Two Fish (symbol), Fish & Crown, Celtic, Sea Gems, etc, etc… they used a cross-hatched texture on the backs of all their brands, which identifies them as surely as if they bore the famous Fish & Crown mark on every piece - & like many others, this one isn’t actually signed, but is easily identifiable as their work !! Their pieces are usually 22ct gold-plated metal or 925 silver-plated metal with beautiful enamels in bright clear colours, which stand the test of time beautifully. A similar technique to Cloisonne, but instead of adding departmental wires to hold the enamel, Champlev is the art of creating a design comprising of channels or grooves created by removing metal from the surface of the metal. A high level of skill is required to produce a refined finish when creating the cavities. Metal can be removed using techniques such as engraving, etching or a piece can be pre-cast with cavities included. The cavities created are then filled with vitreous enamel & fired until the enamel fuses. The surface is then finely sanded down to create a smooth finish. The high quality is always apparent in their work, which makes them very collectable indeed !!
