Traditional indigo dye vat recipes include chemicals such as Thiox (oxygen reducer) & soda ash (alkaline base) & these work extremely well for standardised & effective indigo dyeing results. However, we are fully aware that many of us have a preference for a totally eco-friendly recipe & method for natural dyeing. We have therefore created an organic & eco-friendly indigo dye kit following the well established Organic indigo vat 1, 2, 3 method. This recipe combines our wonderful natural high quality indigo powder with Calcium hydroxide (the alkaline base) & a choice between natural antioxidants such as henna, or fructose powder - please choose which one you want when selecting the product. Follow the instructions provided with the dye kit. All ingredients can be composted, & also should be able to be disposed of in normal waste & drainage, though always check local requirements & regulations for waste disposal.
