Ruby is actually a mineral called corundum, which is one of the hardest minerals besides diamond (Mohs hardness of 9). Corundum comes in a variety of colors, but the most well known types of corundum are ruby & sapphire. The difference between these two minerals is that ruby has more chromium than sapphire, giving it a reddish hue. This particular batch of ruby is from India & is very high quality material. This mineral would great for resin jewelry or anything that doesn’t require sanding. Ruby is the official birthstone for July! Material Size: Fine - material is considered to be very fine to powder (silt size). This product is NOT man-made, mixed with resin, or stabilized. Stone authenticity is extremely important to all artisans; therefore, we validate the source of all our minerals before they are crushed! All of our minerals are handpicked by me (Missy) at some of the largest mineral shows in the United States. Please see product images for color, approximate size, & quality.
