A wheel thrown tea bowl, made in a very relaxed fashion to give it character . Each tea bowl is a one off. Thrown in terracotta clay & fashioned with slip colours. Beautiful to handle. Enjoy taking your very own Matcha tea in a ceremony at home with a tea bowl of your own. Grey & yellow with blue & pink colourings. 130 mm diameter x 75 mm high. Part of the Left Field Ceramics UK slipware range Pottery is my passion - I would spend all day sitting at my wheel, if I could! I am largely self-taught, & have pickup up plenty of hints from my many mistakes over the years, developing my skills, & turning what began as a hobby into my full-time occupation. The majority of my work is for restaurants, hotels & other commercial enterprises, but after a health scare in the last couple of years, I realised that on the one hand I needed to dial back on the long hours, & on the other, needed to express my own creativity, & ‘play’ again. Hence I have created these one-off, individual pieces that I am now selling on Etsy. These are fun, unique pieces, which I am making simply for the joy of it. I hope you take as much pleasure from them as I do! All my work is thrown, glazed & fired by me, with no assistant, or apprentice. I use New Zealand-built wheels, & have four, for different coloured clays (buff, white, terracotta & black/chocolate, if you were curious). I use a pugmill to make the clay soft, & have three electric kilns. My dream is to be able to use my wood-fired kiln more, when I have time to manage it properly. I use a wheel to make all my work, with a very few exceptions, which are always clearly marked. Glazes are sometimes my own creations, or created from others’ recipes, & are sometimes bought-in mixtures, depending on what a client asks for, or how I feel. My slipware work is explained in a blog & listed gradually on www.leftfieldceramicsuk.com Thank you for showing an interest in my work. Contemporary Tea Bowl, Tea Drinking Ceremony , Japanese Style
