This is an English Stratton enamel vintage powder compact. Made circa 1960 or 1970 by Stratton in England the box has a ballet design & is signed Baron. Generally in good condition there is a little crazing of enamelling, & tarnish to the metal. The sifter is torn & there is no puff or powder. 7.5cm The artist Henry Nahum, known professionally as Baron was a society & court photographer appointed to the British Royal family. He published a book in 1955 called Gala Performances, portraying real ballet dancers in costuming from actual ballet productions. He died in 1956. Stratton incorporated many of his photographs into a line of compacts & accessories depicting ballet dancers & these pieces have become very collectible.
