On offer is this lovely collectible boxed wig powder puff. It’s in good condition overall - notable scuffs & scratches over the wooden box as well as extensive chipping / nibbling all around the outer edge of the top; the puff material is in a very fragile state (please refer to images) which continues to malt / disintegrate; notable staining & discoloration over the puff body too but as shown all adding to the aged charm & character of the piece. It’s of traditional form, plain in design yet elegant in appearance. The original push-on top is present & when lifted off reveals the original powder puff - either for a lady’s wig or judge’s wig. Much of the original puff material has been lost over time & as mentioned the remaining amount continues to disintegrate . Unmarked for a maker, circa mid 19th century. The wooden box measures 8.2cm (3 & 1/4 inches) in outer diameter, 78mm in total height & despite the condition issues raised is ready to be collected & enjoyed once again!
