On offer is this lovely antique open salt. The remaining silver plate shine up well still - unfortunately there’s a notable large manufacturing / attempted repaired fault around the underside edge (please refer to images) which shows solder residue; notable ware to this area also exposing the base nickel silver (brassy tone); extensive scuffing & scratching all over commensurate with age as well as extensive scratching to the interior which has resulted in notable gilding loss; ware around the top edge exposing the base copper metal but as shown all adding to the aged charm & character of the piece. It’s of traditional form, beautifully decorated with three floral feet & an elegant top border edge. The interior shows gilding remains which despite the evident damage still displays well. Marked for Christofle of France, circa first quarter of the 20th century. Also present is a cruet spoon - silver plated which shows ware in areas exposing the base nickel silver. Decorated with an elegant handle design (gadroon pattern in style) & would’ve been produced in Sheffield, England around the same period as the salt. It measures a charming 72mm in outer top diameter, 38mm in total outer height - the spoon itself measures 80mm - & despite the condition issues raised is ready to be collected & enjoyed once again! The postage quote is for a Royal Mail tracked & insured service. I also offer combined postage options so please do get in touch if you’re interested in more than one item/ lot.
