ARGENTAYAN ASPARAGUS vegetable seeds Delicacy vegetable perennial culture. Asparagus is a herbaceous dioecious plant: about half of the plants are with male flowers, half with female flowers. Male plants form more shoots, they are about 25% more productive than female plants & are more durable than them. but female plants produce higher quality products. Young white shoots are eaten. Before sowing, the seeds are soaked in water for 2 days, then kept in a moist burlap at a temperature of 24-25 o C for 7-8 days. The seeding pattern is 25x5 cm. Asparagus seeds germinate at 20 o C in 10-15 days, at 10 o C the seeds do not start growing. After the emergence of shoots, the main short root of the asparagus dies off; instead, a thick vertical rhizome with almost horizontal roots is formed. Seedlings are planted in ridges in May or the second half of August. During the growing season, the plants are weeded & constantly spud to form white (etiolated) shoots.
