This empty glass apothecary bottle or jar is likely English, & likely from the very late 1800s or early 1900s. American apothecary bottles of this style usually had embossing on the bottom, either with patent date info or a manufacturer’s logo, & this jar has none of that. This is old wavy glass with tiny air bubbles, so it was made before glass production became purified & commercialized, probably around the turn of the last century. This was hand blown, & the bottle has no parting lines & no witness lines. This large bottle has a glass stopper, probably original, as the glass on the stopper fits snugly & securely & quite perfectly. The frosted glass neck is slightly tapered. Someone wrote on the inside of the frosted part of the stopper: B L # @ 9 oz, which suggests the jar can hold 9 ounces but I have not measured its capacity. The jar is in good condition. It measures about 7 3/4 high with the glass stopper inserted. The bottom is about 2 3/4 in diameter & the opening inside diameter is about 1 7/8 wide. It weighs almost 1 pound. Please note I have separate listings for several differently sized bottles that came from the same lot. FREE shipping within the United States.
