ANTIQUE SILVER SALTS: 1904 James Deakin silver Victorian salt dishes, pair of salt bowls FREE SHIPPING. See specifications below. These salt dishes are sterling silver with a fluted design & very modernist handles. The handle shape is similar to Christopher Dresser designs. They are made by a well-known silversmith James Deakin & fully hallmarked for Birmingham, UK, 1904. The silver salts are small & have a small silver spoon. They come in their original case with port wine coloured velvet & silk lining. Please read below about the inscription in the case which has some very interesting history. Still used today these salt look beautiful on a fully laid table for special occasions & Christmas or Wedding Days & can be used for other purposes than salts such as jams, caviar & relishes or mustard. Measures: Approx. height 3.6cm by width 3.4cm by length 8.4cm. All measurements are taken at the widest point. Hallmarked: Anchor, Lion, e for sterling silver, Birmingham, dated 1904 Makers Mark: J D W D in a shield for James Deakin & Son. The box reads: Under the distinguished personal patronage of H.I.M the Empress of Germany, R.D. & J.B. Fraser Ltd, Ipshwich. The firm were established in 1833 & were antique dealers although very interestingly they also bought & sold false teeth.
