Antique Solid Sterling Silver Miniature Oval Compact Powder Box on original 54inch long Guard Muff chain. Beautiful little compact powder in not very common (oval) shape which is unusually still has attached original really long sterling silver muff/guard chain. Additionally inside of compact powder it has an original miniature puff which looks like never been used. Inside the compact powder is is gold gilt & appears that it was never have any powder inside. The miniature compact powder is plain on outside & clear of any monograms. Inside on the lid is has an original mirror. Mirror is in fairly good condition with only tiny chip on the bottom which is visible on photos. The box is in overall good antique condition, shows general age & use related wear (some scratches on the silver, very small ‘ding’ on bottom which is very difficult to notice but can be felt with the fingers). The box opens & closes securely. The miniature compact powder measures approx. 4cm wide x 3cm in height (without bale) The original guard/muff chain measures approx. 54inch long & it has very early version of ‘spring ring’ clasp. The chain is unmarked. It has been an acid tested positively for Sterling Silver The total weight mini compact powder & chain on my scales is 22.6grams The miniature compact is hallmarked on the side with full set of English marks for Sterling Silver assayed in Birmingham, date letter ’t’ - 1918, silversmith ‘ALL-D’ - Adie & Lovekin Ltd.
