This is an authentic Japanese antique medicine chest called Kusuri Tansu that dates from the late Edo period (1850’s-1860’s). It was constructed from Paulownia (Kirinoki) & Cryptomeria (Suginoki) woods. This is an apothecary chest with many small drawers used to keep medicinal herbs. This type of chest has become increasingly rare over the years since few of them were ever made & even fewer are now in existence. 25 1/4W x 10 1/2D x 21 1/2H + 26 1/2H metal stand Antique Medicine Chest Edo Kusuri Tansu, On New Metal Stand | 21M-G200
