Sweet Alyssum is a low growing flowering plant. Lobularia maritima is an annual plant which grows to 8-12 inches tall. The stems are very slender with a cluster or small flowers. The flowers are 0.20 inches with a sweet-smelling aroma. Sweet Alyssum will grow in rock gardens or in spaces with little soil. It booms from mid-summer until autumn. Lobularia maritima was used centuries ago in the Mediterranean, to treat bites from rabid animals. The most common Sweet Alyssum is white, but they bloom in purple, pink or cream.
