This tea is made of tea leaves from TanYang village, FuAn City, FuJian Province, China. It tastes rich, smooth, mellow fruity with a subtle nutty note. According to legend, as early as in Xianfeng & Tongzhi period of the Qing Dynasty 18511874 there was a person named Hu Fu Jin in Tan Yang village, who innovatively made the Tan Yang Gongfu black tea, & soon the tea was exported to Europe, favored by the British Royal Family. in 1915, Tan Yang Gong Fu tea was awarded the Golden Medal in Panama International Exposition. The picking standard of Tanyang Gongfu is one bud with 1-2 tender leaves, only superfine buds are picked. The picked raw tea leaves are strictly screened by hand. It’s really a time consuming work, & the annual production is very limited. Tanyang Gongfu black tea leaves look tight & thin. The golden pekoe is particularly eye-catching, strongly connected to its high quality. Due to the photosynthesis, fresh buds contain much more beneficial substances. Moreover, the traditional making method helps retain the nutrition in the most extent. This is called Black Tea in Europe, while it’s called Red TeaHongChain China. Gongfu Style Brewing Instructions: (a) Prepare ~0.17oz (~5 grams) of tea leaves to a GaiWan. (b) Pour cooled down boiled water (~ 85oC, ~185 oF) into the GaiWan. (c) Steep for 3-5 seconds. (d) Pour out the first brew of tea. Do not drink. (e) Repeat steps (b) & (c). The subsequent brews are full of flavor & can be enjoyed. Add about 3-5 seconds for each successive brew after the first 4 brews are finished.
