This 2 piece set includes two sculptures of unique copper wire trees on rock. Mid century origin. Unsigned, but obviously handcrafted John Steck style, but unconfirmed origin. The organic modern, Brutalist work work make a beautiful addition to so many home types or an excellent piece in a collection. Brutalist art was a mid-century response to modernism. It centered on raw elements, a rough unfinished feeling, social progress, unity, & departing from the haute elements modernism. Brutalism, despite its name conjuring up images of brutality actually derives from the French words beton brut or raw concrete which were some of the most important elements of the architectural style. in the decorative style, these raw elements translate into the use of metals, organic materials, asymmetrical lines, fluid movements, & natural colors to create timeless & striking pieces that evoke primal elements inside us all. The first piece is 10x10 inches & the second is 2x5 inches. The last photo in the series shows the smaller of the two pieces. I encourage my customers to study these pieces & see the true joy & organic nature of them instead of discarding them as harsh or brutal. Oftentimes, the longer you engage with them, the more & more beauty you discover. This work is some of my favorite, & despite the harsh critique it has received in society, I believe, will be some of the most enduring of our time. We do our best to ship as quickly as possible.
