20% OF EVERY Eye Impact SALE GOES TO World Vision TO HELP IMPROVE THE LIVES OF IMPOVERISHED COmmUNITIES. A. The bird compact looks almost lacey with its scalloped edge & the guilloche machine worked pattern beneath its enameling; the long tail birds (jay or kingfishers?) on brown branches with green foliage, blue sky on a white background. Inside there is a powder shield with a pad; the top part is polished steel (to use as a mirror) & it opens to reveal the rouge compartment with its paper cover over intact cheek color. Lovely embellishment on the outside edging; construction looks like a LaMode compact, but the identifying pad or packaging is gone. It measures 2 across & 3/8 thick; there is a chip in the top enameling near the hinge (hence the price) & there is some discoloration on the creamy celluloid on the bottom side of the compact. Unable to identify origin/brand. Overall, it is in good, serviceable, vintage condition. Would not pass muster with a perfectionist, but might live in a collection as a place holder - too nice & pretty to discard. B. A lovely, well kept ARMAND Cold Cream Rouge with its silhouette of a woman’s head with a pink flower in her hair. The rest of the tin is covered with a turquoise & dark pink plaid pattern. The copy on the back side states that it is a complementary purse size (promotional) from ARMAND Co., Des Moines, Iowa, U.S.A. & that the price of the regular package would be 50 cents. It is 1 across & thick; the tin is undented; the graphics on front & back are intact; product inside is nearly gone, but the ribbon handled puff still has a lot of product in it (as evidenced in the picture.) Over all it is in very good vintage condition. C. Available separately, but best price is for the pair with FREE SHIPPING & a savings of over $10. 1950S Guilloche Enameled Bird Powder Compact Lot; Head Profile Armand Rouge Box Promotional Sample
